Adults Born After 1970: Should receive 1 dose of vaccine – most adults have had this dose. If travelling internationally, you should have a second booster dose. (Not during pregnancy.)

Children: Should receive 2 doses of MMR vaccine, usually given at 12 months, and age 4 to 6 y

Infants: MMR first dose at 12 months, (as early as 6 to 11 months if travelling to an area with measles)

Check your vaccination records for your measles doses. If you are not sure and are checking for a younger adult or child, you can contact your local public health authority to find out: https://www.ontario.ca/page/public-health-unit-locations

If you need a booster, you can receive one at your local public health unit or some pharmacies. Family doctors usually only keep supply for routine childhood vaccinations.

About the After Hours Clinics

Please note, our after hours service is not a walk-in clinic.
All patients must have an appointment and be registered with a FHO physician.

Please check the information bar on the right side of the screen for the time and location of today’s after hours clinic.  You can also call 647-345-1596 to obtain this information.

If no clinic locations are listed, then there are no after hours clinics scheduled for today. Please try another option.

If you are not able to see your own doctor during office hours or you become ill after hours and need care, one of the doctors in our FHO will be happy to see you. There are many benefits to using the FHO clinics instead of a walk-in clinic:

  • Your own doctor will be made aware of your visit and can therefore follow up on tests ordered or referrals if necessary
  • Most of us share electronic medical records (EMR) and as such we will have access to your past health information, medications and allergies. This ensures that you receive the safest and most appropriate care possible
  • The evening clinic appointments are booked appointments and save you hours of waiting in a walk in clinic surrounded by other sick patients

WHO SHOULD USE THE CLINIC?

If you have new worrisome symptoms, a child that is ill, or worsening of a chronic medical condition, which you feel cannot wait until a routine appointment with your family physician, you will be assessed. However, your visit is not meant to replace the complex and continuing care that only your family doctor can provide. Remember, the after hours clinic is meant to provide for urgent non life-threatening problems only.

As well as the after hours clinics, by being a patient of the Metro West FHO, you have access to nursing support 24 hours a day, seven days a week by calling the Telephone Health Advisory Service (THAS) at 1-866-553-7205.

This service is available in over 100 languages, so just phone the number and begin speaking in your language of choice.

The THAS nurse will be able to assess your health concerns on the phone, give valuable health information and can often save you an unnecessary clinic visit.  They also have access to the closest after hours clinic and if appropriate, they may direct you to the nearest ER.

THE CLINICS ARE NOT MEANT FOR LIFE THREATENING EMERGENCIES

If you have chest pain, if you think you are having a strokeheavy bleeding, or fracture, severe allergic reaction or trouble breathingcall 911 immediately or go directly to the nearest emergency department.

GENERALLY YOU SHOULD NOT USE THE AFTER HOURS CLINICS FOR THE FOLLOWING:

  • Routine blood pressure checks
  • Regular prescription renewals
  • Results of lab tests or procedures
  • Notes for work or absences due to illness (if an exception is made,  charges may apply)
  • Requests for referrals, procedures or for appointments with your own doctor
  • Pre-Operative physicals, routine paps or Well baby visits as these are more appropriately done by your regular Family Doctor
